Electronic Data Erasure Process

Data destruction is paramount & our #1 priority when disposing of your electronic devices.  These devices contain your company’s or client’s sensitive data and you can rest easy knowing the sensitive information is gone forever when you use our services. With our secure data destruction, you get:

  • Full permanent erasure of all data, even failed and damaged hard drives
  • A Certificate of Destruction to guarantee your data’s safe destruction
  • Free onsite destruction for batches of over 200 drives

Simply put, we ensure regulatory compliance, complete data security and process transparency during data destruction.

  • To properly sanitize and wipe data from drives, we put it through our hard drive degausser and/or our hard drive 7-Pass wiping device.
  • The degausser machine uses a high-powered magnetic process to wipe and destroy all data on the drive.
  • If we’re also physically destroying the drive, it’s time for the hard drive crusher. Our hard drive crusher delivers 12,000 lbs of force in a conical punch, destroying both the inside and the outside of the drive..
  • If requested, we’ll provide you with a Certificate of Destruction to prove your data is safely disposed of.
  • We’ll process the remaining material from the drives into their components and recycle them locally.

As a certified electronics recycling company under RESPONSIBLE RECYCLING© R2:2013, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018 we ensure each item is handled and processed to meet industry standards such as:

  • PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry) Data Security Standard
  • PIPEDA (Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act)
  • NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) Guidelines for Media Sanitization NIST SP 800-88
  • NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) Guidelines for Media Sanitization NIST SP 800-36
  • Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA)
  • HIPAA (Health Information Portability and Accountability Act)
  • IRS-1075
  • CJIS
  • Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)
  • Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA)
  • National Security Agency (NSA)
  • Department of Defense.

Data Destruction Methods

We utilize 4 primary methods of data destruction.

  1. Data Erasure: This industrial strength wiping machine is designed to use a DoD 7-Pass overwrite function and an Enhanced Secure Erase function to provide secure data wiping/sanitation/erasure on any Hard Drive (HDD) or Solid-State Drive (SSD). Powerful forensic techniques are required to recover data from this destruction method.
  2. Degaussing: This technique uses a machine that produces a strong electromagnetic field which destroys all magnetically recorded data.
  3. Stake Punching: This is a physical destruction process that crushes and renders the media platters and storage device units completely unreadable.
  4. Shredding: Items are shredded and the remains are separated and recycled to original commodities.

Portable Device Data Destruction & Erasure:

We provide data destruction and data erasure for portable devices, using degaussing & shredding to completely destroy data on some of our most commonly used hand-held devices containing sensitive information. These include:

  • Smart phones
  • Thumb drives or portable drives
  • Flash memory
  • CD/DVD
  • Tapes
  • Other media types

If your portable device project requires physical destruction and a certificate of data destruction, please call for more information.
