Tukwila is a Seattle suburb in King County, Washington, United States, located just south of the city. At the 2010 census, the population was 19,107, with an expected population of 20,347 in 2019.

Tukwila is a city of communities, with people from all over the world residing there. The convergence of rivers, freeways, railroads, and Seattle–Tacoma International Airport attracts employees and consumers to the city on a regular basis; industry thrives.

The little village grew into an agricultural centre and a trading location in the upper Duwamish River Valley in its early years. As the population grew, so did industry, which was mostly focused on farming. Tukwila’s Interurban Avenue served as a connection to Renton and a line to Tacoma in the early days of electric trains. From 1902 to 1928, the Interurban Railroad operated a commuter route that allowed passengers to travel from Seattle to Tacoma in less than an hour. [8] Tukwila was the site of Washington’s first macadam paved road, which bears the name of this innovative form of street pavement. The city is home to one of the first paved military highways. In 1908, Tukwila was constituted as a city.

Tukwila’s strategic location at the junction of rivers, highways, and trains has made it a major commercial hub. Tukwila employs around 45,000 people currently. The city is home to Westfield Southcenter (previously Southcenter Mall), Puget Sound’s largest shopping complex, as well as several Boeing Corporation operations. Microsoft, Internap, the University of Washington, Savvis, AboveNet, digital.forest, HopOne, and Fortress Colocation are among the Internet and corporate datacenters in Tukwila.
